We Care Into the Future 2025
On Friday, 4th July, we were proud to take part once again in the We Care into the Future event, hosted by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.
The event brought together around 2,000 Year 8 and 9 students from across the region to explore the wide range of careers available within health and social care, and we were delighted to be part of such an inspiring day.
We were very busy throughout the event, as we engaged with hundreds of young people, offering hands-on experiences and insights into careers within general practice and primary care. Clinicians, including a nurse and a doctor, joined us on the day, demonstrating wound care and wrapping techniques, reflex testing, and heart rate monitoring, which proved very popular!
We also brought along our UV handwashing equipment, giving attendees a chance to test their hand hygiene and learn how to wash effectively – a fun and educational activity that always draws a crowd.
To keep things lively, we even ran a mini competition, challenging attendees to tell us what a speculum is, with prizes for the correct answer!
It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic students getting involved, asking questions, and showing genuine curiosity about working in healthcare. Events like this are a brilliant way to inspire the next generation of nurses, GPs, pharmacists, and care professionals, and we were thrilled to be part of it once again.
Thank you to everyone who came to see us and to Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals for organising this event – we hope we sparked a few future careers along the way!
