Highlights from the Respiratory Event in February

On Monday, 24th February, we hosted a Respiratory Event at Clock Corner, alongside our ongoing Love Your Lungs service aboard our Health Van, Vincent Van Cough. The event aimed to support people in taking proactive steps towards better respiratory health, offering free Carbon Monoxide tests, expert advice, and support services.
We were thrilled to see over 40 people take a free Carbon Monoxide test, gaining valuable insights into their lung health. The event lasted six hours, with 100% of attendees stating they found pop-up health events useful – a fantastic feedback on the impact of accessible healthcare in the community!
Throughout the day, we had insightful discussions covering a range of topics, including the link between asthma and smoking, COPD Support Groups (with guidance provided by Be Well Doncaster), support and advice on respiratory illnesses, additional services available, and stop smoking advice and referrals. We also provided resources and leaflets for people to read to better understand the importance of respiratory health and how to manage long-term conditions.
The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many people appreciating the valuable information, supportive staff, and on-the-spot referrals. Some of the comments included:
🗣️ “Did the Carbon Monoxide test and completed a referral to stop smoking. I have bad COPD and this event really helped me.”
🗣️ “Lots of information to take away and think about. I want to try and stop smoking, now I have the information to help me consider it.”
🗣️ “Lovely staff and helpful event! Really handy to be able to understand what support is available.”
Given the success of the event, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be running it again on Monday, 24th March at Clock Corner!
