Today provides an opportunity for my profession to recognise the hardworking Human Resources (HR) and people professionals all over the world.

If you were to ask someone what HR is, they’d probably say that you speak to them if you have a problem or when you’re in trouble! But we’re much more than that. We may work a lot behind the scenes, but we’re here every step of the way of your employee life cycle – from sourcing people to take on new roles, supporting people who wish to move on, and everything in between. HR ensure businesses work in line with employment legislation, and provide policies and processes to run an effective organisation, but we’re also here to support you! We encourage diversity and inclusion, training opportunities, career progression and planning, employee voice, and rewards and recognition – to name only a few. And yes, we’re here if you have a problem too!

I’m a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), which means I’m committed to all things people related! My key interests are training and development and employee wellbeing, something which has been critical to my work and the work of all HR professionals over the last few years, keeping our staff safe and supported in the difficult and challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. My role at PCD is varied, and you never quite know what’s going to happen each day, and that’s what I love about it! Here at Primary Care Doncaster we strive to provide a happy environment for all our staff, and this is something we’re really proud of!
