Celebrating International Men’s Day!

Friday 19 November 2021 marks International Men’s Day – a day to be celebrated for all the positive male role models, contributions to society and most of all to create awareness and focus on men’s health and well-being.

Throughout General Practices in Doncaster, we offer a range of support to our patients such as health checks in practice for men, extended hours to ensure appointments are accessible to everyone, plus the Extended Access services provided by PCD support our member practices to offer additional appointments and GP capacity if all their appointments are full. We also have the Health Bus which is deployed out to different locations with a GP on board in Doncaster weekly, as a walk in service to all patients from 9:30am – 4:00pm.

As important as our mental health is, we cannot forget about our physical health. And I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to and thank all of those who are taking part and raising awareness for Prostate Cancer through the Movember challenge. Since the foundation of Movember, it has raised over £400 million for men’s health issues – much of which has been invested into their research, centres of excellence and TrueNTH which helps to improve lives and experiences of men with prostate cancer, as well as the experience of their families.

And on that note, please go out and celebrate International Men’s Day, reach out to the males in your life that are inspirational and tell them! Offering your support may be the helping hand when they need it the most.
