Wound Care Event

On Wednesday, 17th January 2024, the Doncaster Wound Care Alliance, which is made up of partner organisations across Doncaster including Primary Care Doncaster, Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), Doncaster Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, and FCMS, hosted an engagement event at the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster.

The event saw a total of 73 people attending throughout the day from different organisations across Doncaster such as RDaSH, DBTH, General Practice, FCMS and District Nursing Teams.

A key focus of the event was the Doncaster Wound Care Formulary, where valuable feedback was solicited from nurses on ways to further refine and improve our services. Micky Delahunty, the Clinical Lead for Tissue Viability and Lymphoedema Service at RDaSH, delivered an insightful presentation on the long-term compression management of well legs, a topic of great relevance to patient care.

The day was made even more engaging with interactive sessions hosted by our generous event sponsors, including BBraun, Coloplast, Essity, Juzo, L&R, and Sigvaris. Urgo Medical and MEDI UK, although unable to attend, also sponsored the event. These sessions provided practical education and training on products listed in the Doncaster Wound Care Formulary, enabling attendees to gain hands-on experience and knowledge.

During the event, we proudly displayed our High Commendation award from the 2023 HSJ Awards, a recognition that echoes our dedication to integrated care and the continuous improvement of patient outcomes in Doncaster.

The Doncaster Wound Care Event was not just a day for learning but also a celebration of the progress we have made as a united healthcare community driven by the dedication and expertise of all those involved.
